Zardari woos disgruntled party men

Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has started to woo the disgruntled elements in his party. He has termed his party workers “assets” and directed PPP leaders to hold them in “highest esteem”.

Zardari also visited the PPP Punjab Secretariat in Model Town on Wednesday where he was received by Manzoor Wattoo, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and other party workers.

The PPP co-chairman appreciated the efforts of the PPP workers and the party management for their efforts in making the PPP’s Foundation Day Convention a resounding success.

Wattoo expressed his deep sense of gratitude on Zardari’s visit.

Even during Zardari’s address to the convention a day ago, a worker interrupted him in the speech demanding that Bilawal Bhutto should have been present at the convention as well. He appeased the disgruntled elements by announcing visits to all parts of the province to woo such elements.

Wattoo apprised the co-chairman that all the workers and the office bearers were enthusiastically engaged in decorating Lahore. It was only due to their rigorous efforts that resulted in elaborate decoration of the metropolis that was presenting the look of city of PPP, he observed.

He stated that the PPP workers were motivated enough and the party would be in a strong position to contest elections in future to win sizeable number of seats in the province.

Later, the co-chairman went around the secretariat building to see the working of the different sections. People working there were excited to see him among them.

During lunch with former governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood, Zardari also discussed various propositions to make Central and Southern Punjab party formations more strong. Former MNA Nadeem Afzal Chan was also present at the occasion.
