Trade union leaders of the provincial capital on Tuesday rejected the strike call by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vowing that they would resist any attempt to close businesses in the city.

Holding a joint press conference at the Lahore Press Club, union leaders of various markets of Lahore announced that they would not act upon PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s call for strike under any circumstances. They said that they could not allow Imran Khan to impose his decision upon them.

Traders announced that baton-bearer traders will guard all the markets in case PTI activists tried to forcibly close the markets.

Trade union leaders from Mall Road, Liberty, Ferozepur Road, Iron Market, Pakistan Cloth Market, Montgomery Road, Azam Cloth Market, Anarkali and many other areas expressed solidarity against the shutter-down call.
