Seven post office officials dismissed over Rs 6m scam

Punjab Post Master General Central Rubina Tayyub has dismissed from service as many as seven senior officials of Pakistan Post of Sialkot district on the charges of Rs 6 million embezzlement and fraud in local post offices.

The dismissed officials are: Daska Head Post Office Senior Post Master Saeed Ahmed Shehzad, cash clerk Nadeem and Naib Qasid Rasheed Ahmed, Uggoki Post Office Postmaster Mukhtar Ali, Sialkot GPO Pension Branch Assistant Chief Post Master Pervaiz Khokhar, former Dhaarowal Post Office post master Muhammad Imran, first payment clerk Tariq Qamar and Sialkot GPO Pension Branch Assistant Chief Post Master Muhammad Riaz.

They were found guilty in embezzlement and fraud of Rs 6 million during a high level departmental probe against them. The probe revealed that the accused had embezzled the pensions of the retired Pakistan Army personnel by making the fake pension books in their names and the utility bills of the general public as well.
