The Supreme Court (SC) will resume hearing on holding of local government elections today.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during last hearing had told the court that it has prepared draft legislation on the Delimitation of Constituencies Act, 1974, in Punjab and Sindh.
The case is being heard by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk. It is expected that the issue of the appointment of CEC will also crop up during the proceedings.
The court has warned the government that it will withdraw on December 5 Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, a Supreme Court judge officiating as acting CEC. The commission may be rendered incomplete if the court goes ahead with its warning.
However, leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah had said that the CEC will be appointed by December 1 after his meeting with the prime minister.
