Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced another major cut in the prices of petroleum products following which petrol will be available at Rs 84.53 per litre from Monday.
The premier made this announcement at a public meeting on the occasion of inauguration of Hazara Motorway in Havelian on Saturday.
The price of petrol, presently Rs 94.19 per litre, will be slashed by Rs9.66 per litre with effect from Monday. Hi-octane price has been reduced by Rs10.18 a litre, kerosene Rs4.34 rupee a litre, high speed diesel (HSD) by Rsl7.12 a litre and light speed diesel (LSD) by Rs5.39 per litre. The new per litre prices of these products would be, Hi-Octane Rs 106.27, HSD Rs94.9 and LSD Rs77.98.
During the meeting, the PM directed the provincial chief ministers to ensure trickle-down effect of reduction in POL prices. “The reduction should be significantly reflected in transport fares and the prices of food stuff and other items,” he said and expressed confidence that the decision to reduce prices would help farmers as well.
