Year 2017 will be the year of saying goodbye to power load shedding said Federal Minister for Water and Power and Defence Khawaja Asif.
The minister gave the deadline for ending power load shedding in the country while addressing students at a laptop distribution ceremony held at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Saturday.
“We are trying our level best to end power load shedding and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is himself monitoring the program to end load shedding till 2017,” said the minister, adding that the government is capable of ending power load shedding before the 2018 elections.
Asif stressed the need to change social behaviours and exercise tolerance.
“Education is the only way to change violent thinking,” he said.
“I am a strong believer of women empowerment. If a woman is economically empowered, the society will grow automatically,” he said.
He said that it is necessary for a nation to be “economically sovereign” in order to prosper and progress.
The minister said it was a sin to hurl accusations at others and politicians should avoid doing so.
