  • Imran Khan says he has a ‘Plan D’ ready in case his ‘Plan C’ fails
  • Reiterates that Sunday’s rally will be ‘decisive’
  • 11,000 police and FC personnel deployed in federal capital for security

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday vowed to bring the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to justice “for their heinous crimes against the people of Pakistan”, as the stage is set for his much-hyped “D-Day” rally in the federal capital today (Sunday).

Addressing supporters from his container at D-Chowk, Khan claimed that his “Plan C”, which he didn’t want to speak about before his Sunday address, was not the last arrow in his quiver.

“If Plan C fails I have a Plan D ready. PTI will take a rather unexpectedly different course of action on Sunday,” said the cricket-turned-politician who has been staging a protest in Islamabad since August 15 against alleged vote fraud in last year’s general elections.

Wrapping up his address, the PTI chief declared Nov 30 as the decisive day.

“A wishful government had thought our sit-in will wear out in one day, but they were wrong,” he said, adding that “Kaptaan” was not afraid of anyone.

Commenting on the PTI’s “decisive rally”, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said Imran Khan will eventually tire himself by staging ‘unfruitful’ public rallies.

“Imran Khan is frustrated for not being able to become the prime minister that’s why he’s exacting revenge from the people and the government by staging sit-ins and rallies,” he said, adding that it would be better for Khan to concentrate on his party’s governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and alleviate the sufferings of the people there.

CAPITAL ADMINISTRATION ON TOES:

Meanwhile, the Islamabad district administration has imposed a ban on pillion riding for Sunday as tight security measures were put in place to prevent the situation from going out of hand.

Islamabad Inspector Geral of Police Tahir Alam Khan said that entry in the rally venue will be allowed after three phases of search.

He said that 11,000 police and FC personnel have been deployed for the capital’s security while aerial monitoring will also be carried out on the occasion.

The administration has also prohibited use of drone cameras under Section 144 and the ban would stay for a week.

Police have issued instructions for diplomatic enclave according to which all diplomats and their staff have been advised to refrain from going to the markets and shopping centres.

IG Tahir Alam said that shipping containers have been placed around the rally venue due to security concerns as intelligence agencies had warned that an explosive-laden vehicle could enter the venue.

He said four entry points have been established where around 50 walkthrough gates will be installed. PTI has already arranged 25 walkthrough gates.

According to sources, only specific cars would be allowed parking at the venue whereas police has installed 20 cameras for recording the event. All the routes from Khayaban to Faisal Avenue would be completely blocked for traffic leading to the rally.
