Government would take all possible steps for the rehabilitation of blind people, besides making them productive for society, said Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar on Saturday while addressing a ceremony during which possession and documents of proprietary rights of prime commercial property worth millions of rupees were handed over to the Al-Minar Adult Blind Centre operating under the aegis of Pakistan Alliance of the Blind.
The prime commercial property, which is situated in Street No 2, Shad Market, Sootar Mandi, Montgomery Bazaar, Faisalabad, was donated to the Blind Centre by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Director ENS Dr Waqar Chaudhary.
The governor lauded the services of Pakistan Alliance of the Blind and said the organisation was struggling hard for the rehabilitation of blind people.
He said blind people were an integral part of the society.
“Therefore, it is our collective duty to play a dynamic role for their rehabilitation,” he added.
Philanthropists should also come forward and donate generously for making blind people productive members of society, he said, adding that the government would also utilise its all available resources for redressing miseries of blind people besides providing them all basic amenities.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Alliance of the Blind General Secretary Haji Muhammad Masood said the organisation had been working for the rehabilitation of blind people since 1967.
