PTI youth leader says party well prepared to counter police attack

In anticipation of a possible police action to limit the number of protestors from reaching Islamabad’s D-Chowk on November 30, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Youth Wing has reportedly devised a combat strategy to match the situation, Pakistan Today has learnt.

A senior leader of PTI’s Youth Wing of Islamabad said that a three-prong strategy has been worked to cope with the barricades erected by police, to face tear gas and to counter one-on-one fight with the police.

“We have learnt a lot from the incidents on the night of August 30, when police used heavy tear gas on us and we have no reply to it except to run away from the area. This time around it will be different if police will try to disperse us with tear gas shelling,” the PTI Youth Wing leader, on anonymity, said.

A group of route- guides has also been established by PTI to help the protestors coming from other cities to D-Chowk in case the police block main roads.

“We have deputed our activists from the city who are well aware of all the inner roads and areas of Islamabad in different sectors and they will guide those party workers to D-Chowk who are not acquainted with Islamabad routes,” the PTI leader further said.

“We have arranged enough number of tear gas masks and the party workers have been provided optimum training to use them in case of heavy shelling of police,” he further told.

“Our leader (Imran Khan) has asked us to reach the D-Chowk at any cost and we will not disappoint him. No hurdle can stop us from reaching there now as we are well prepared to deal with the police accesses,” a motivated youth leader explained.

Although a formal permission has been granted to PTI to stage a rally at D-Chowk on November 30, however, a considerable distrust between both the government and PT exists which has made both the sides to prepare themselves for a “plan B”.

“We have arranged a large number of portable ladders which will be used to cross over the containers placed by the administration,” he further said.

However, PTI Islamabad President Aamir Mughal said that they will try to reach the D-Chowk by adopting peaceful means without taking law and order in their hands.

“Last time our workers were caught unprepared by the police and naturally we had to keep that in our mind. We will only defend us against any police brutality,” Aamir added.

On the other hand, Islamabad senior superintendent of police (SSP) has said that there will no blocking of roads and PTI workers will be allowed to attend the rally without any hurdle, however, he also warned that no one will be allowed to law into their own hands and such people will be dealt with accordingly.
