As govt laments economic losses due to protest sit-ins, students are worried about their future because of academic losses due to sit-ins

Students of different educational institutions in the federal capital fear more academic loss due to upcoming protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on November 30.

The students have suffered a lot due to the prolonged sit-in of PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) launched from Independence Day and now they are again worried due to the upcoming PTI protest.

The students, after long sit-ins of protestors, just regained their momentum of studies and now they would again suffer due to the uncertainty and unrest on capital roads.

All the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE)-run institutions remained closed for more than a month after summer vacations due to sit-ins and extraordinary security measures.

Kamran Habib, a student said, “I got 80 percent marks in Class 9 and want to show good results in Matriculation exams but my syllabus is not covered so far due to closure of school.”

He said protests must not affect normal life of students and the students’ academic performance. These protests are not meant for any positive development but are causing inconvenience to common people.

Fiaz Anwar, a father of two children, said all parents want their children to come up with good results at Matriculation and Intermediate level so that they can get admission in good institutions but this time sit-ins and protests have badly impacted their performance.

The protestors are not realising that they are playing with the future of our children, he said.

Irum Afzal, a teacher at a local college said the prevailing political situation is creating problems for the students especially for the girls who travel daily from far-flung areas.

The situation will impact the annual results of the students if it continues for long as they will be unable to complete their syllabus in time, she said.
