President Mamnoon Hussain has said that corruption is major hurdle in the development process as it had badly affected the country’s economy and stressed for ridding national institutions of corrupt practices.
Talking to a delegation of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) led by its Managing Director Amjad Pervaiz Janjua which called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday, the president said that the government was taking steps for the betterment of masses despite several challenges, for which he said it deserved commendation.
He stressed the need for eradication of corruption to create an environment where the economy could be strengthened. He said economic activities would gain momentum after completion of developmental projects in the country. He said national economy had suffered because of mismanagement and irregularities in the past.
Hussain said the confidence of foreign investors has increased with the launch of Pakistan’s Sukuk bonds. He recommended following the model of China for national development and prosperity. He appreciated the contribution of PSO towards national economic development. He also felicitated the management and the team of PSO including its workers and staff for their commendable performance.
