NA speaker for more women cops

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has expressed pleasure over Women Parliamentarians Caucus’s initiative of conducting a workshop on women policing in Pakistan.

While chairing the concluding session of the workshop in Islamabad, the NA speaker said that the assembly was pleased to host this workshop which is an important discussion on the role of women police in enforcing law and order.

This workshop aims at bringing awareness among the policy makers and stake holders to improve the work environment and would advice the government to introduce relevant policies.

Speaking on less representation of women in police, Sadiq said, “Since we are a primitive and conservative society, families generally do not send their daughters in police. It is important to motivate educated girls to join this service to improve its image and to reach out to average Pakistani woman who has vital role to play in family and nation building.” He expressed hope that there will be more women joining police which would help improving the overall law and order situation in the country.

While acknowledging the role of women parliamentarians in legislative process, the speaker said that they have significantly contributed towards the legislation carried out by the Parliament in recent years; especially pro-women laws were enacted by their hard work.
