*DIG operations issues show-cause notices to four SHOs

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Haider Ashraf issued show-cause notices to four station house officers (SHOs), admonished two SHOs and gave warning to the Kot Lakhpat SHO on Wednesday.

Ashraf was addressing a meeting regarding increase in crimes in Model Town and Allama Iqbal Town.

The show-cause notices have been issued to the SHOs of Model Town, Faisal Town, Garden Town and Ghalib Market, whereas SHOs from Liaqatabad and Naseerabad were admonished.

The DIG said that SPs should personally monitor the law and order situation in their divisions.

He promised to cooperate with dedicated law enforcement officers and agreed to provide them with requisite support needed to effectively discharge their duties.

He said no tolerance would be shown to those guilty of corruption and laxity. He stressed on the importance of remaining vigilant to protect the life and property of the people.

He said that police can combat the plans of anti-state elements with a comprehensive strategy, adding that the teams patrolling the divisions had to be made more effective to control crime.

He said that pickets should be placed around the city, policemen should patrol areas on motorcycles and plain clothed policemen should be deployed to guarantee fool-proof city across the provincial capital.

He said that the officers should strive to nab those responsible for robberies, extortion and abductions.

He said that the instances of people getting murdered for resisting robbery attempts were not acceptable.

He further said that SPs and DSPs should personally inspect such crime scenes.

He said that the SHOs held responsible for submitting fake raid dairies would be relieved of their duties.

The DIG operations said the shortage of manpower would be addressed soon but no negligence would be tolerated regarding to securing shops, jewellery salons and banks.

He said officials should treat policemen in a befitting manner to raise their morale.

He also directed the present officers to kick off daily searches and hasten the collection of data regarding tenants in the city.
