CM wants speedy completion of development projects

Special attention has been paid to the progress and development of Punjab and strengthening of the provincial economy, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting regarding Annual Development Programme 2014-15 on Tuesday.

The chief minister said funds of billions of rupees are being spent for speedy development of the province and improving the living standard of the people through comprehensive reforms in social sectors.

He said that the youth are being imparted various skills in accordance with the market needs under the Skills Development Programme.

He said that work is being carried out speedily on various schemes under the ADP, aimed at uplift of the province and provision of basic amenities to the citizens. He said that under the ADP for the year 2014-15, priorities have been set on realistic basis for strengthening provincial economy.

The chief minister expressed his satisfaction over the release of funds under the ADP and the performance of the departments concerned regarding their utilisation during the last four months. He said that speedy and transparent completion of development projects is being ensured in the province.

He said that the policy of third party audit of development projects is being strictly implemented. He said that special measures have been taken under the ADP for raising the living standard of deprived segments of the society.

The chief minister directed that all departments should complete development projects within stipulated period as delay in the execution of development schemes will not be tolerated. He said that provincial departments should work actively for achieving their targets.

He directed that no effort be spared for the achievement of the targets fixed for the provision of job opportunities to the youth during next four years.

Provincial Minister Finance, Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Punjab Assembly Member Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, chief secretary, secretary finance and officers concerned were also present.
