Although energy crisis have adversely affected every sector but the government is making sincere efforts to resolve this problem, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a meeting with a delegation of Chinese investors on Wednesday who expressed their interest to invest in power generation projects based on solid waste.
Lahore Waste Management Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Lahore Division commissioner and officials concerned were present on the occasion.
Speaking to the Chinese investors, the chief minister said that work was in progress on projects of power generation from different resources. He said that there were vast opportunities of investment in energy sector in Punjab and the government had provided a conducive atmosphere to foreign investors. He said that investment by Chinese company in the projects of power generation from solid waste will be welcomed.
ABID SHER ALI SAYS GOVT PLANNING NEW STRATEGY TO ADDRESS ENERGY CRISIS
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that the government has chalked out a new strategy to address the energy crisis.
He was addressing a conference in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
He said at present 9,000 megawatt electricity is being distributed via the national grid. He said the shortfall is being overcome by executing many power projects with China’s cooperation.
He said work is in progress on many energy projects, including Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Plant, and alternative energy sources of coal, solar, wind and bio-gas are being utilised.
He said efforts are afoot to attract foreign investment in the energy sector.
Later, talking to journalists, the state minister said all defected metres are being replaced and inflated electricity bills rectified.
