Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah on Wednesday suggested making amendments in the constitution to appoint Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as the chief election commissioner CEC.

“The only solution to the prevailing political crisis is that Imran Khan should be made the CEC,” Shah told a news channel while commenting on the demands of the protesting leader. Imran Khan should then hold independent and fair elections, he added.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Khan is staging sit-in in Islamabad for over 100 days demanding audit of last year’s general elections. The cricketer-turned-politician claimed that massive rigging was carried out in May 11, 2013 general elections.

Former chief justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani and other former judge Rana Baghwandas have already refused to accept the CEC job.
