Despite his ailment, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri Tuesday vowed to continue his fight for the rights of the poor till revolution.
Talking to journalists, Qadri said that his condition deteriorated last night due to high blood pressure. Despite health problems, the struggle for revolution will continue, he said.
He vowed to continue his scheduled programmes of public meetings till December 25 in Karachi and then take a break during the winter months.
Explaining his health condition, the PAT chief said during his visit to US, he got tests but deferred treatment as it involved angiography and heart operation which follows atleast four months rest. He said even last night his doctors in the United States told him that they were coming to take him with them abroad for treatment forcibly but he requested them not to do so.
The PAT chief, who retuned Pakistan from Canada last week to resume his anti-government campaign, is diagnosed with heart problems and high blood pressure, prompting him to curtail his political activities.
“I took medicines last night for high blood pressure and spent a sleepless night. Doctors have advised me to take a bed rest but it’s impossible in prevailing conditions,” he elaborated on his health.
Qadri claimed that teargas shelling on a protest he was leading on August 31 in Islamabad’s Red Zone had destabilised his health, but he ignored treatment only to continue his struggle. He said after checkups in the US, it was revealed that the poisonous gas has affected the heart most.
Qadri said he would take rest after December 25, leave for US and will be back soon to fight back. He said he would visit Southern Punjab from March till May, 2015.
Qadri further said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has invited PAT to join the November 30 rally in Islamabad. A PTI delegation led by Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi will be meeting him in Lahore and a decision will be taken there.
He said several political leaders telephoned to enquire about his health last night and Tuesday morning but he could not speak to them as his condition did not allow it. He said that the telephones were attended by his son and other party leaders.
Our prayers for the early recovery of Dr Tahir ul Qadri from his serious heart ailment and salute to him for his untiring efforts to fighting the war of > Haves and Have nots> and the sacrifices he is making for a peaceful revolution in Pakistan in this context.
