Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said that there had been no meeting between the Pakistani and Indian delegations on the sidelines of the SAARC summit and that there was little possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Aziz was giving a briefing to media representatives.

He said that had India not suspended negotiations with Pakistan on August 25, it would have been a second meeting between the delegations of the two countries at SAARC after the one in New York.

“Negotiations would have been good for the economic development of both the countries,” he said.

He also said that Pakistan is in favour of China’s membership at SAARC but India has some reservations over the matter. He added that Turkey wanted an Observer status at the SAARC conference.
