*CM says those who take law in their hands will be dealt with an iron fist

Although there is great coordination and understanding between federal and Punjab security and intelligence agencies yet there is a lot of room for improvement particularly in the light of current prevailing security situation of the country, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while co-chairing a high level meeting with Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to review law and order and security situation of the country particularly Punjab on Tuesday.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, National Assembly Member Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, provincial ministers Colonel (r) Shuja Khanzada, Bilal Yasin, Punjab Assembly Member (MPA) Rana Sanaullah Khan, chief secretary, inspector general of police and home secretary attended the meeting.

Home secretary gave a detailed briefing on the subject. Discussion also took place in the perspective of November 30 public meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Punjab government assured the federal government that whatever policy guideline given by the federal government, it will be fully implemented by the provincial government. It was also mutually decided to handle any violation of law with the strongest response.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the protection of life and property of the citizens is the responsibility of the government and police should perform its duties efficiently in this regard. He said that all out resources are being provided for maintenance of law and order and no one will be allowed to take the law in his own hands. He said that all citizens are equal before the law. He directed that implementation of law should be ensured at any cost and a watchful eye be kept on miscreants. He said that special attention should be paid to the security of important places and modern technology should be utilised for investigation and eradication of crimes.
