ISLAMABAD-
The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday took notice of the infants’ death in District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Sargodha and directed the Punjab Health Secretary to submit report within 48 hours, private media reported.
The report over the deaths of infants was prepared by the Human Rights Cell of the SC.
While two more infants have expired today, bringing the death toll to 27 in the past week.
Following the inquiry conducted by the Punjab Government, medical superintendent (MS) and some other officials have been suspended due to the alleged negligence.
Lack of oxygen, incubators shortage, and negligence of the doctors are reported to be the causes of infants’ deaths.
Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Sargodha’s President Dr Sikander Warraich has rejected the claims of the negligence of doctors or staff.
