LHC asks Khan, Qadir to elaborate their plans for 30th

A Lahore High Court (LHC) full bench Monday again issued notices to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri for November 28 on an application to stop the parties from holding sit-in on November 30.

The full bench comprising Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar and Justice Anwaarul Haq issued notice on a civil miscellaneous application filed by MH Mujahid in a pending matter against Azadi march and the subsequent dharna of the PTI and others.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel AK Dogar arguing before the court submitted that the opposition was empowered to criticise government policies but it should be loyal to the state as per law.

He contended that the PTI leadership’s role could not be considered loyal as it gave the call for civil disobedience and had also hinted to overthrow the government in their speeches. He pleaded the court to stop Khan from holding sit-in on November 30.

However, the bench observed that the government did not comply with its orders of August 13, 2014 and allowed marches to proceed to Islamabad. The bench questioning government’s action observed whether courts should do all functions.

At this stage, the bench was apprised that notices could not be served to Khan and Qadri.

The court directed to re-issue notices to both respondents for November 28 and adjourned the matter.

LHC SEEKS REPLIES FROM FEDERAL, PUNJAB GOVTS:

The LHC also sought replies from Federal and Punjab governments on the same petition.

During hearing of the case, the court directed the governments to submit their replies on Friday.
