Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman has warned of parting ways with the federal government if it fails to fulfil its commitment of enforcing Sharia in the country.

“JUI-F lent support to the government on the condition that the government will implement Sharia. If the government upholds its promise, we are ready to continue to support it,” said the JUI-F chief while talking to journalists at Ministers Colony on Tuesday after a meeting of the JUI-F Majlis-e-Shoora.

The Majlis-e-Shoora discussed the prevailing political situation in Pakistan, regional and international issues.

Talking to reporters, Fazl demanded the government to withdraw an appeal in the Supreme Court against the establishment of Islamic banking and elimination of the interest system.

Fazl termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s November 30 gathering a non-issue. “As in the past, there will be no outcome of PTI’s sit-in,” he said.

“The bubble of sit-in will explode with the use of abusive language,” he said and alleged that the government had reports that PTI would resort to violent activities on November 30.

“That is why the government is taking steps to ensure law and order,” he said.
