ISLAMABAD-
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif address to the nation scheduled for today was cancelled a few hours following a report from sources within national broadcaster Pakistan Television.

The premier was expected to address the allegations levelled against his government by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

A few hours after the news, the PM representative denied the news of any expected address.

PM Sharif last addressed the nation on August 12 this year, two days before the anti-goverment long march and sit-in by PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), alleging rigging in 2013 general elections and demanding him to step down and announce re-elections.

Earlier today, the PM met with Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar at his residence and discussed matters of national security and the ongoing military operations in the tribal areas.

The premier will be leaving for Nepal on Tuesday, leading a delegation to participate in the 18th SAARC Summit scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on 26-27 November, 2014.
