ISLAMABAD-
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Monday hailed the decision of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA)to reduce electricity tariff by Rs 0.47 per unit in connection with the Monthly Fuel Price Adjustment for the month of October 2014, private media reported.
The premier said that government is committed to take practical steps to bring solace to masses.
Nawaz also expressed the hope that further reduction in oil prices will bring more comfort to public. He observed that provincial governments must take steps to provide relief to the public in lieu of the declining oil prices in the country.
Previously, on the directions of PM the Ministry of Water and Power had submitted details of fuel mix to slash the tariff for consumers.
The concerned ministry ensured that government is taking essential steps for efficient fuel mixing to reduce the cost of electricity generation. The government is also taking concrete measures to utilize other energy resources including coal and hydro generation.
