Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq said Sunday, “Pakistan’s rulers will have to decide whether they are the slaves of Obama or Bush or Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They will have to choose between Washington or Makkah and Madina.”
In his concluding address at the three-day JI ijtema, Haq said that US and India should stop interfering in Pakistan’s affairs.
“The Indian leadership should stop threatening Pakistan and use its resources to wipe out poverty in India. If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants war with Pakistan, he should know that this nation will repeat the history of Badr and Hunain.”
Addressing a mammoth gathering at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan, Haq said that the hypocrisy of rulers could not continue anymore and those who love American culture “should leave Pakistan”.
Hundreds of minority communities’ members and foreign delegates also attended the ijtema where Haq stated that JI would raise a nation which would be “above the differences of sects and factions and would be according to the dream of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah”.
Seeking people’s cooperation in fulfilling JI’s cause, Haq told them to seek forgiveness from Allah and refrain from lying, gheebat (backbiting), and haraam (illegal) earnings.
“The laws of the country continue to be un-Islamic even though the constitution states that all laws should be in line with the Quran and sunnah,” he said.
The JI chief said he would announce the line of action for making Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state at the Quaid’s mausoleum on December 25. He lambasted the rulers for playing to the tune of US for their vested interests while lending a deaf ear to the plight of the masses.
“Due to the system of tyranny and injustice, the poor are committing suicides,” he said, adding that Rs150 billion worth corruption was being done in Pakistan every year.
He criticised National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for not bringing the corrupt rulers to book. Haq also highlighted the plight of poor who had died in Tharparkar due to famine and drought.
“The only problem is lack of leadership. Otherwise, there is no dearth of talent, resources and vision in this country,” Haq maintained.
JI Azad Kashmir chief Abdur Rashid Turabi and JI Punjab chief Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar also addressed the gathering.
