Two more infants died due to malnutrition on Saturday escalating the death toll to 107 in the famine and drought-hit Thar region.

Moreover, scarcity of fodder has led to the loss of cattle. Many locals have no access to potable water even after a grant of Rs 20 million by the Mithi administration for a population of 15,000 people in Chachro. Women have to travel miles in search of water as hundreds of wells have dried up.
The changing weather has worsened the trouble of the people of Thar while the Chachro administration has brought the supply of wheat to a standstill.
Many people continue to migrate from the drought-hit areas while those staying back await aid.
