PTI chief says will not allow division of Sindh, construction of Kalabagh Dam without Sindhis’ consent
Says he wants to hears chants of ‘Go Zardari Go’ in Sindh
Invites masses to attend PTI rally on Nov 30 against ‘oppressive rulers’ and ‘status quo’
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday promised the people of Sindh that he will not allow the division of Sindh if he comes into power and would lend an ear to the opinion of Sindhis before reaching a conclusion on the construction of Kalabagh Dam.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Bhuttos’ bastion Larkana, the PTI chief said that the people of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had woken up and called upon Sindhis to do the same and stand up against the “oppressive rulers”.
The PTI chief minced no words when rebuking Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – the ruling party in Sindh.
“After Go Nawaz Go, I want to hear chants of Go Zardari Go in Sindh,” said Khan, taking a jibe at PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the charged crowd chanted anti-Nawaz slogans to show their support for PTI.
The PTI chief alleged that both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Zardari are protecting the status-quo and the current “shambling” governance in Pakistan for their vested interests.
“How can a party that has completed six terms in Sindh and failed to deliver, be allowed to come to power again?” asked Khan and called upon the participants of the rally to vote for PTI to make a “Naya Pakistan”.
KHAN’S NAYA PAKISTAN:
Highlighting the features of PTI’s “Naya Pakistan”, Khan said that merit will not be flouted in a Pakistan run by PTI.
Citing the example of the KP government, he said that the KP police is allowed a free hand in its affairs and works solely on merit.
“KP Police is the best police in the country because there is no space for favoritism or nepotism there.”
“Tell me if even one fake FIR has been registered in KP,” he challenged.
“How can people trust the police if it is involved in corrupt practices under the patronage of political leaders,” he said and cited the recent sit-in staged by robbers in Sindh over “extortion” by the police.
Khan also announced to introduce Local Bodies’ system in Sindh if PTI is voted into power.
“We will ensure lands and other resources to peasants of Sindh besides granting them health facilities, jobs on merit and their fundamental rights which have been denied by the incumbent rulers,” said Khan.
“Six million children in Sindh are out of school,” he said and vowed to address this issue.
“Sindh has immense resources of coal which should be exploited for the betterment of the people of these areas,” said Khan.
He also vowed to support to all minorities of Sindh.
In a veiled criticism to a Sindh Assembly resolution against him, Khan said he was happy because criticism from the Sindh Assembly implies that “I am doing something right.”
The Sindh Assembly Wednesday passed a resolution condemning Khan’s statement in which he allegedly called the people of Sindh “slaves”.
SIT-IN COMPLETES 100 DAYS:
Khan told the participants to gear up for “Naya Pakistan” and “Naya Sindh” and reach Islamabad on November 30 to join PTI’s struggle against the government’s “oppression”.
He said that PTI has completed 100 days of anti-government protest in Islamabad and vowed to continue the sit-in until there was accountability of those who “rigged the 2013 polls”.
“I invite all Pakistanis – farmers, laborers, domestic servants, minorities and women and journalists to come to Islamabad on November 30,” said Khan.
He said that the rally will be peaceful but warned the government not to create hurdles for participants or else it will responsible for the consequences.
QURESHI SPEAKS AGAINST SINDH DIVISION:
Addressing the rally, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi vowed to fight those who wanted to divide Sindh province and construct Kalabagh Dam against the wishes of the Sindhis.
Lashing out at PPP leader Nisar Khuhro and his resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly, Qureshi said, “I want to tell Khuhro that the people of Larkana have rejected your resolution.”
“PTI does not need a non-objection certificate from the Sindh government to hold public gatherings in Larkana,” he said.
What has the Sindh government done so far for the restoration of peace in Karachi, he questioned and asked if it is possible to get development contracts in Sindh without giving bribe.
“Khan has arrived in Sindh to bring the Sindhis out of despair,” said Qureshi.
