JI chief says PM Sharif, previous PMs should present themselves for accountability

Syrian scholar Albayuni says powers obstructing path of Islam are the real threat to humanity, peace

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former prime ministers to present themselves for accountability and called for a reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) before the next general elections.

Addressing a large gathering of supporters on the first day of a three-day congregation at Minar-e-Pakistan, Haq said that his party will enforce a system of justice and eliminate corruption from the country.

“At present, there are two parallel systems in Pakistan. One is for the poor and the other for the elite,” said Haq, adding that JI will serve the downtrodden masses.

“JI has never been accused of corruption. I served as provincial minister twice in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but not once was I accused of making illegal money,” he said.

“I am ready to face accountability and I hope that PM Sharif and former PMs will also present themselves for accountability,” he said.

JI IJTEMA BEGINS WITH ADDRESS OF AKHWANUL MUSLIMOON LEADER:

Earlier, the three-day ijtema of JI began with Friday prayers at Badshahi Mosque led by the central leader of Akhwanul Muslimoon and eminent Syrian scholar Al-Sheikh Sadrud din Albayuni.

Addressing a mammoth gathering of more than 50,000 women, Albayuni said that the Muslims are not terrorists but are the “saviours of the humanity”.

He added that the leaders of non-Muslims should stop their “conspiracies against the Muslim world”.

The Akhwanul Muslimoon leader said that Islam is not a threat to world peace. On the other hand, the colonial powers which are obstructing the path of Islam are the real threat to humanity and peace, he said.

He said that the world was in need of the enforcement of the Shariat-e-Muhammadi for promotion of love, affection and equality.
