Traders call for allocation of place for political sit-ins in Islamabad, lament economic losses due to sit-ins across federal capital

ICT Chamber of Small Traders and Industry President Khalid Mehmood Mian and Traders Welfare Association president have appealed to the interior minister to earmark specific routes for the November 30 protest rally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to save the traders and residents from difficulties

They also called for allocation of an exhibition ground near Faizabad for political rallies in Islamabad to save the businessmen of the city from the trouble caused by the sit-ins staged across the federal capital.

They said that the phenomenon of political sit-ins and rallies in the federal capital have caused immense loss to the business activities due to which traders are facing great hardships and appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to intervene.

Addressing the representatives of various markets, Mehmood said that the Metro Bus project and trend of sit-ins in Islamabad has badly affected businesses and the government should play its role to protect the interests of the trading community.

He said that Metro Bus Project chairman has no stake in Islamabad as his main focus is on Rawalpindi due to which the residents of Islamabad are feeling ignored.

Mehmood said that it is the right of every political party to stage protests, however, they should also take care of the interests of traders and residents.

He also called upon the traders to get united for protection of their rights.
