Three more infants lost their lives at District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital Sargodha on Friday, bringing the death toll to 15 in three days, a private news channel reported.

Unavailability of oxygen, shortage of incubators and negligence of the doctors has been blamed by the   affected families to be the cause behind the deaths in  government-run hospital.

DHQ hospital has only five incubators in its capacity while 50 newborns have been admitted with around 20 in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Iqbal Sami claimed that five babies died due to pre-mature births while other three were brought in threatening conditions and died at the time of admission on Tuesday-Wednesday midnight.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif had  sent an inspection team to the hospital and had reportedly issued directions to the authorities to provide 20 incubators to the hospital as soon as possible.
