- PM Sharif accuses India of displaying negative attitude, says Pakistan will talk to Kashmiri leaders before engaging in dialogue with India
Blaming India for displaying a negative approach by terminating the dialogue process on the longstanding issue of Kashmir, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made it clear on Thursday that Pakistan will speak with Kashmiri leaders before it enters into a dialogue with India.
“It is our fundamental belief that the Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue. My government initiated dialogue with India but India cancelled the scheduled foreign secretary talks without a reason. India exhibited inflexibility and a negative attitude,” the premier said while addressing the meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Council in Muzaffarabad.
“Pakistan and Kashmiri people are connected with eternal bonds. Before dialogue with India, I have decided to engage with Kashmiri leaders,” the premier said, adding that it is wrong to term the struggle of Kashmiris for their right of self-determination as terrorism.
“Kashmiris are being the victims of state terrorism and the issue should be resolved through peaceful dialogues. India has always exhibited its traditional stubbornness regarding Kashmir issue.”
Moreover, Sharif said that by accusing Pakistan of providing a safe haven to militants, India is actually trying to conceal its own atrocities.
He expressed his concerns over the silence of the United Nations and international community on the Kashmir issue and urged them to take an initiative for dispute resolution according to UN Security Council’s resolutions and the aspiration of Kashmiri people.
“This issue cannot be resolved with use of force and we will keep extending our moral and political support to the Kashmiris. After all, economic prosperity in the region cannot be achieved without peace.”
The prime minister said that his government is proactively highlighting the issue of Kashmir at every forum and had also raised the issue in UN General Assembly meeting last September. He added that Pakistan’s policies are gaining acceptance at international level.
Sharif also mentioned the recent skirmishes on the Line of Control (LoC), which he said the army befittingly responded to and politicians condemned unanimously.
Later on, the prime minister distributed cheques of compensation worth rupees one million each among 37 families of those who lost their lives during the recent rains and floods in AJK.
"PM Sharif accuses India of displaying negative attitude, says Pakistan will talk to Kashmiri leaders before engaging in dialogue with India" – Mr.Sharif which part you don't get? You do the first part, forget the second part! and frankly, you can't do a damn thing to change it.
But what was the reason who had to done this.
