With China, promises are not meant to be broken

China to honour all its commitments for helping Pakistan in energy crisis, says Sun Weidong

Chinese envoy to Pakistan Sun Weidong has re-assured that his country will fulfil all its commitments to bring Pakistan out of energy crisis and further develop its socio-economic sector.

Talking to journalist in the federal capital during his visit to COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, he termed the recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as highly productive and fruitful. He hoped that the documents signed during the visit will further foster their all-round partnership.

He assured that the agreed documents will be implemented soon, with joint efforts of the governments. The documents are mainly related to energy, besides other sectors that would ultimately benefit to the people of Pakistan.

Ambassador Weidong said that the Chinese government and the leadership attached great importance to their relations with Pakistan. “Our relationship is growing fast with a passage of time, meeting the common aspirations of their people.”

He said they are looking forward for peaceful and prosperous Pakistan and wish to support Pakistan’s its efforts to achieve their targets, particularly in the economic sector.

To question, the ambassador said, it was highly encouraging to see that there is a complete consensus among all sections of the people in the country in regard to further deepening their all-weather and time-tested relationship.

About the recent visit of PM Sharif to China, he further said it helped a lot to undertake and implement some long-term projects such as Pak-China Economic Corridor. The prime minister was received by top state leaders that provided an opportunity to hold wide-ranging talks on the matters of bilateral interest.

Earlier, while speaking at the COMSATS’ briefing, Weidong also assured his country’s support to contribute in promotion of science of technology. They will help the university to undertake its academic targets. “We are ready to support it both financially and with professional input.”

He reiterated China’s maximum role in the development of South-South cooperation. He appreciated the COMSATS’s efforts to strengthen Pak-China long-standing relationship, especially in the education sector. He noted that the university has also done well, in generating business activities, under Pak-China Business Forum. He said the forum will hold its meeting next year.

The ambassador during his visit inaugurated Pak-China Study Centre that has already started functioning at the university, and also addressed the students, highlighting depth of their decades’ old partnership.
