Khan claims Gen Sharif assured ISI, MI role in rigging probe

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday claimed that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif had promised induction of officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) in the commission to probe alleged vote rigging in last year’s general elections.

Talking to journalists from Sindh, Khan said that the government also agreed to have ISI and MI play a role in investigating the alleged poll rigging. He claimed that rigging was not only carried out in Punjab but also in Khyber Pakhunkhwa and Sindh provinces.

“Asif Ali Zardari himself said that it was the elections of returning officers,” the PTI chief said.

Commenting on the situation of Sindh province, the cricketer-turned-politician said that the condition of Sindh is worse than Balochistan.

He said that new provinces should not be created on the basis of ethnicities.

Khan said that Sindh has reservations over construction of Kalabagh Dam, adding that it should not be built against the will of the province.
