Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved a summary of special grants worth Rs 5.4 million of Punjab Labour and Human Resource Department for the dependents of 18 deceased workers of stone grinding factories of Gujranwala and Sialkot.
The chief minister has also constituted a committee to take stock of the existing working conditions in the stone grinding factories and ensure compliance with the labour safety standards as per international bench marks. The committee will submit its report to Punjab chief minister within a period of four weeks.
Minister Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar is the convener of the committee while Labour secretary, Environment secretary, Mines and Minerals secretary, Industries secretary, PESSI commissioner, representative of ILO and respective chambers of commerce and industries and any other member co-opted by the committee for included as member of this committee.
