3 notorious bandits killed in encounter

The city police claimed to have killed two notorious bandits, Piaro Machhi and Irfan Jatoi, arrested their five accomplices and recovered an abductee on Wednesday.

On a tip-off, a heavy contingent of police headed by SPs of Naushehro Feroz, Shaheed Benazirabad and Matiari districts raided Habibullah Lashari village near Bandhi Road Timorr for arresting a gang of bandits and recovered an abducted government officer Ghulam Shabir Shaikh from their possession.

During the raid, the police warned the bandits to surrender, but they opened fire on them which prompted the police to retaliate. After crossfire for about two hours, two bandits Piaro Machhi and Irfan Jatoi were killed.

The police arrested five accomplices of the bandits and recovered abducted official Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh from their possession.

The bodies of the bandits were brought to Civil Hospital Moro while the police shifted the accomplices to an unknown location for investigation.

Officer Ghulam Shabir Shaikh was abducted by the bandits 20 days back from National Highway at Shahpur Jahanian. The bandits had demanded Rs 50 million ransom for his safe release.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Shiraz Nazir on Wednesday claimed to have killed a gangster in an encounter while arrested another one in a raid and recovered weapons from his possession.

The SSP said that police had an encounter with criminals in Baghdadi area wherein the Lyari gang war commander Babar, allies Baba, was killed. He was involved in killing of PPP workers in Lyari and was wanted in 20 other target killing cases, the SSP said.

Police recovered two hand grenades, 14 walkie talkie sets and automatic weapons from the possession of dead gangster, said SSP City Shiraz Nazir.

In another raid, the SSP claimed to have arrested criminal Asgar of Lyari gang war belonging to comrade group in injured condition. Police recovered one pistol from his possession.

The body and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively. Further investigations are underway.
