Eight more infants lost their lives due to malnutrition in drought-hit Tharparkar district on Tuesday, private media reported.
Falsifying the claims of district health officer (DHO) Dr. Bhurgari, unrelenting conditions have taken the lives of eight more infants in Chachro, Alam Thar, Tar Hayat Halipoto, Diplo and Mithi areas of Thar district, raising the death toll to 93 in the past 49 days.
A day earlier, Dr. Bhurgari had claimed that only underweight newborn children were dying.
The provincial government, being criticized over slackness to handle the issue of drought-hit region, has made plea to foreign donors to get over the drought situation.
