The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed an application seeking the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif filed 17 years ago.
The application was filed by senators of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in 1997. It was dismissed on Tuesday due to the absence of prosecution.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasirul Mulk declared the application ineffective.
Recently, a Supreme Court bench had also rejected the government’s plea for dismissal of an application seeking disqualification of the PM and referred the case, including three similar petitions, to the country’s chief justice.
