Mamnoon uses elbow grease for smooth Greek ties

President Mamnoon Hussain Monday said Pakistan desired to further strengthen its partnership with Greece in diverse areas to the mutual benefit of the people of both countries. He was talking to Ambassador of Greece in Pakistan Petros Mavroidis who paid a farewell call on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Highlighting the existence of long term bilateral ties between the two countries, the president said Pakistan attached great importance to its ties with Greece which were based on mutual trust and goodwill. He appreciated the long-term partnership of Pakistan with Greece in economic, trade and commercial relations.

Mamnoon said both countries have extended support to each other at various international forums and expressed commitment for furthering mutual cooperation in diverse fields.

The president emphasized that both countries should continue exploring avenues for cooperation and for further enhancing the existing volume of bilateral trade. He said the existing bilateral trade of US$ 90 million, was far below the potential the two countries have. He said the Greek investors could take advantage of investor friendly policies of Pakistan by investing in various sectors of economy especially in the agriculture and energy sectors.

The president commended the ambassadorial services of Petros Mavroidis for promoting bilateral relations during his stay since October 2007 as ambassador in Pakistan.
