Islamabad IGP wants his men on toes

The improvement in the law and order situation, protection of the lives and properties of the public, timely justice and fight against crimes are top priorities of police, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tahir Alam Khan said while canvassing the situation of security and crime in the capital.

A comprehensive strategy will be put into practice to accomplish these priorities. In order to reduce/prevent crime from the city and to ensure law and order situation in the city, close liaison between the police and the public would be ensured.

The IGP directed all police officer that they should tighten its hold around hardened criminals. He also directed that citizens should be given direct access to the officers so that their grievances could be redressed.

The field officers should be activated to nab criminals involved in robberies, street crimes and other heinous crimes.

The IGP further directed that an effective strategy is vital to reduce crime and also ordered to adopt professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

Khan directed to focus on resolving the public complaints, and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He directed all officers to provide maximum relief to citizens and not to delay registration of FIRs. He said police officials responsible in delaying registration of cases and doing sloppy investigation would not be spared by taking strict disciplinary action.

The IGP said that he will not tolerate corruption would purge police officials from the force involved in corrupt practices. He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following merit to win the confidence and support of the people.

He stressed for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases. He also emphasised the need to adopt zero tolerance against petty crime.

Khan further said that transparency and merit would be ensured in the department. The professional and honest officers would be rewarded for their achievements while officers found involved in malpractice would be taken to task.
