Finance minister says has evidence of items purchased for anti-terror operations from money given to IB

Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has rebuffed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s allegations that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave Rs 2.7 billion to Intelligence Bureau (IB) to fail his protest sit-in.

In an exclusive chat with a TV channel, Dar said he was ready to provide details of items purchased as parts of anti-terrorism operations from the money given to IB.

“I am ready to provide the list of purchased items to Imran Khan, but he will have to promise to keep it confidential,” Dar said.

He lashed out at Imran Khan saying that what the PTI chief was preaching to the young generation.

He advised Imran Khan to stop staging a ‘strange drama’ every evening. “There will be an open war if Imran Khan doesn’t refrain from this drama,” he warned.

Imran Khan should undergo blood test to prove his innocence in Sita White case. “My cupboard is full of evidence against Imran Khan,” he said, warning the PTI chief not to cross the limits.

The finance minister denied allegations that he had laundered Nawaz Sharif’s money abroad. “The affidavit Imran Khan talks about was taken on gunpoint by army generals,” he said.

  1. Without commenting on the merits or otherwise of Imran Khan's charge, I would say that I would not declare it as false simply because the affidavit was obtained from Ishaq Dar by the Generals at gunpoint – as claimed by him – if what was stated in there actually happened. I knew a person who had joined Police out of his passion for detective work but was in fact put off when he actually saw how the policemen went about their business. He mentioned that once policemen brought a few persons accused of theft to the Police station and started beating them furiously. After some time, he said he could bear it no more and pleaded with the Policemen to release them, saying no one could take that much beating and if they really did comit the crime, they would have confessed it after what they have gone through. At that those Policemen just laughed and further intensified the beating and after another half an hour, the accused persons not only confessed to the crime but even led Policemen to the spots from where stolen goods were recovered.
