Sitar maestro Nawaz Abdul Latif Khan works his magic at RAC

Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) organised a musical session with international fame maestro ‘Sitar Nawaz’ and winner of Pride of Performance Ustad Abdul Latif Khan here on Sunday.

Member Punjab Assembly Lubna Rehan Pirzada participated as guests of honour in the session flanked by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed.

Ustad Abdul Latif Khan shared his personal life and tremendous career with the music lovers while Sami Khan was on Tabla. The session was started with performance of his students Umair Rauf who tuned ‘Rag Maigh’ on sitar followed by a folk song ‘Yar Langh a ja’.

The fabulous performance of Ustad Abdul Latif Khan was started with ‘Raag Pahari’ on ‘teen Taal’ that received applause from the audience.Abdul Latif Khan mesmerized the audience by presenting ‘Mujh sey Pehli si mohabat mere mehboob na maang’ on six matre, and ‘Gulon me rang bhare baad-e-nao bahar chale’ on four matre and ‘Dunya kisi key pyar mein’ on eight matre.

Addressing on the occasion, Lubna Rehan Pirzada said that Ustad Abdul Latif is a great asset of Pakistan who represented and produced positive image of Pakistan worldwide.

Naheed Manzoor said that performance of Ustad Abdul Latif is great honor for the Council in her welcome remarks.

Waqar Ahmed said that Ustad Abdul Latif’s art is matchless. He added Ustad Abdul Latif is the pride for Pakistan.

The programme was part of the Rawalpindi Arts Council’s efforts for the revival of classical music and musical instruments. Hundreds of people with their families thronged the arts council to enjoy the performance.
