Qadri seeks COAS help in constituting fair JIT

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri has said that this was not the first time that the army has been called to investigate a killing incident as on July 25, 2003 four sessions and civil judges were murdered inside the Sialkot Jail and the chief justice of the Lahore High Court had requested the Pakistan Army to help appoint an impartial investigation team to investigate the killings in the Sialkot Jail judges murder case.

In a statement issued by the PAT Secretariat in Lahore on Sunday, Qadri said the aggrieved family had apprehensions that as police was involved hence justice could not be served, only then did the Pakistan army intervene and appoint a serving colonel, Col Mufti Zareen Bakhat, to investigate the Sialkot judges’ killing incident.

He requested the COAS to use his influence to get a free, fair and impartial investigation team appointed to probe the Model Town incident. He said we do not have faith in the Joint Investigation Team appointed by the present corrupt rulers and we desire that the Army helps in setting up an impartial investigation team which is acceptable to the aggrieved families and the PAT.
