Pro-Islamic State (IS) wall-chalking appeared in Gilgit, capital of Gilgit-Baltistan, causing panic among the residents of the area.
‘Welcome to G-B ISIS’ was found spray painted on a wall in Konodas area of the city on Sunday.
Shortly after being reported to the authorities, the graffiti was removed while officials denied the presence of the extremist, jihadist group, which has proclaimed a caliphate over Iraq and Syria in the Middle East, terming the event a mischievous event to spread panic in the city.
Wall-chalking acknowledging and welcoming militant group Islamic State (IS) has been earlier seen in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta, Balochistan.
Similar sights have also been reported in Karachi and Peshawar.
Pro-IS advertisements and wall-chalking announcing a ‘caliphate’ and hailing the militant group were seen in Khanewal and Lahore.
Earlier, Balochistan government had issued a threat that IS has recruited more thn 10,000 fighters from Hangu, KP and Kurram Agency.
