WASHINGTON-
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif met with Gen. Lloyd Austin, Chief of U.S. Central Command (CentCom) in Washington during his visit to United States, private media reported on Monday.
Gen. Raheel is visitng U.S. for exploring the possibilities of enhancing mutual cooperation between the Pakistan and U.S.A in military-to-military talks.
According to sources, In the meeting with Gen. Austin, the army chief discussed security situation in Afghanistan and the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan.
The army chief apprised the US general of achievements made by Pakistan Army in the offensive against militants.
According to officials, the US CentCom chief acknowledged Pakistan Army’s efforts and success in fight against terrorists.
The army chief will hold meetings with America’s top military officer, Martin Dempsy, and US defense officials during his stay in the US.
The army chief is accompanied by Director General Military Operations (DGMO) and ISI chief Major General Rizwan Akhtar.
