A contract has been signed between Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and M/s Wateen Telecom for the hiring of managed services of CPDLC (controller pilot data link communication) through SITA network of data and voice communication. This will help radar controller to establish a data and voice communication from Karachi and Lahore on 24/7 through 365 days basis, said a statement issued by PCAA Sunday.
By virtue of the said service, any aircraft flying from any part of the world can choose to communicate with the PCAA radar controller of these airports, it said. The existing communication with the aircraft, the authority said, would be enhanced with the provision of this communication link and augment the conventional VHF & HF wireless communication with the aircraft pilot. The PCAA has succeeded to set another milestone in its policy of strengthening the Pakistan Airspace for human life by virtue of CPDLC which will be integrated in the air traffic management, it said.
