Karachi cops under attack

Three cops, including ASI, among six killed, eight injured in separate incidents of violence

Six people including three policemen were killed and eight others were injured in separate incidents of violence in Karachi on Friday.

Thirty-year-old Tahir of Nazimabad was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near Chawla Market, Madina Masjid in Nazimabad No4. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, Mominabad Station House Officer (SHO) said Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Rasheed resident of Orangi Town was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Faqeer Colony in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

Separately, the body of an unidentified man was found from Sector D-4 in Surjani Town. The man was hanged to death, police said.

Meanwhile, police head constable Asif and three civilians, Nageem, his son Daroop and Mohammad Irfan sustained injuries in a hand grenade attack on a police mobile of PS Preedy by unidentified motorcyclists near Japan Plaza along MA Jinnah Road. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for treatment.

Police Sub Inspector M Nawaz from DIGP Control South said that armed motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade on a Police Mobile-III of PS Preedy.

Meanwhile, unidentified men opened fire on a police mobile at Lines Area in which two police personnel were martyred and three people were injured.

Per details, the armed motorcyclists opened fire on Police Mobile-II in PS Brigade at Al Noor Morr, Preedy Street, killing SI Arshad Tanoli and head constable Ghulam Ali. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies. Further investigation is underway.

Furthermore, a unidentified motorists threw a cracker at a police mobile parked at UP Morr, where police personnel were performing duty. The cracker did not blow off. The miscreants managed to escape.

In another incident, Ayan, resident of Baldia, Gulshan-e-Ghazi, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near his residence. He was shifted to ASH for treatment.
