Shia Action Committee (SAC) office bearer Shafqat Abbas was gunned down by unidentified miscreants in Shikarpur on Wednesday.
Police said that unidentified motorcyclists sprayed bullets at the religious leader at the Indus Highway in Shikarupur, killing him on the spot.
Following the incident, markets, trade activities and private offices were shut down. A large number of people of the Shiite community and office bearers of SAC held a protest demonstration against the incident. They chanted slogans against the law enforcement agencies for failing to provide security to public lives and property and demanded that the culprits be brought to book.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified murderers and started investigation.
