Placement Bureau established by the Karachi commissioner will be registered under Companies Act 1984 to give the forum a legal status for providing jobs to talented and qualified unemployed youth with the support of government and private organisations and departments.
It was decided in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Sdidiqui. The meeting reviewed the progress of the work of Placement Bureau and took various decisions to make the forum effective and result-oriented.
The commissioner said that the forum had been launched to provide employment opportunities to the jobless for employment as well as internship/training opportunities to the skilled and qualified youth on the part of government departments like labour department, sports and youth affairs department, industries department, STEVTA, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP), Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Overseas Employment Corporation which were extending support while from private side the Federation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) represents all the chambers, Employer’s Federation of Pakistan (EFP) with over 4,000 members, various town associations such as KATI, LATI, NKATI, SITE Association, FB Area Association, WEBCOP, Akhwat, Amn Tech and Karigar were extending support to the commissioner’s Placement Bureau.
It was told in the meeting that the website had been launched by the Placement Bureau where job seeker youths would be able to upload their CVs through a form and directly send it to the Placement Bureau. It was further told that after receiving applications for employment from youth, the bureau would categorise them according to candidates’ expertise and requirements and then it would forward them to the organisations working with the Placement Bureau.
The commissioner asked the concerned officials to ensure that the Bureau fulfils its purpose and responsibilities in an effective manner.
The meeting was attended among others by the officials of concerned departments including BBSYDP, Baitul Mal along with the representatives of Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP) and Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and others.
