Only a day after returning from the four-day official visit to China, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is now leaving for Berlin on Monday for another official visit.
“Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif is going to visit the Federal Republic of Germany from 10-11 November at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” said Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam in a statement.
Aslam said that during the visit, the prime minister would hold talks with Chancellor Merkel which will be followed by an official lunch. He will then meet President of the German Bundestag (Parliament) and also address a business forum organised by the Pakistan Board of Investment, which is expected to be attended by a large number of German business executives and investors, she added.
“Pakistan and Germany enjoy close and cordial relations. Germany is Pakistan’s fourth largest trading partner globally and the largest in the European Union. Pakistan’s bilateral trade with Germany stands at US$ 2.5 billion annually. The two countries have strong collaboration in various other fields,” she said.
Earlier Sunday, after his three-day official visit to China, the premier, along with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, returned to Lahore.
Talking to the journalists on his arrival at the Lahore airport, the chief minister said that the Chinese leadership has expressed its full confidence in the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said the projects worth billions of rupees were inked during their visit to China which would open new vistas and avenues of business, trade, investment and economic opportunities in Pakistan.
