Prime Minister’s spokesman Dr Musadik Malik says 10,400 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid during the next three to four years to overcome the energy crisis.

In an interview, he said several projects signed in Beijing by the prime minister in this regard would help improve the availability of electricity, give boost to the business activities, create more job opportunities and strengthen the national economy.

Musadik Malik said under these projects, solar, wind, coal and hydroelectricity would be produced across the country. He said power generation from solar and wind would start in two years while coal and hydroelectricity projects would be completed in three to five years respectively.

The prime minister’s spokesman said China would also assist Pakistan in developing a big highway network from Khuzdar to Gwadar as part of Pak-China Economic Corridor.

He said another highway network connecting Sindh and Punjab and leading to Afghanistan would be built to turn Pakistan into a hub of regional trade.
